The interplatform brotherhood dinner (aka C.H.I.P.) ready to be tasted

Saturday is the chosen day to celebrate the traditional RetroEuskal dinner. The dinner will be celebrated in a more appropiate environment where we can sit quietly, far from the noise and bustle of the party itself, to talk abou the many differente topics, although, obviously, retrocomputing will be the dominant one.

Space Invaders was designed and developed by Toshihiro Nishikado for Taito in 1978. In order to commemoratte the 30th anniversary of this game, a recognized classic of the game history, RetroEuskal 2008 invites you to join in a big play with every Euskal Encounter attendant. Everyone will fight to defeat the opposite side.

Will the terrestrial defences stop the invasion?, Will the space invaders destroy defence lines and take control of the planet? You have in your hands the key for one of the sides victory!

As every year, the wokshops and invited talks are part of RetroEuskal'08, where learn and share are the same thing.

This year we have a workshop about PAL game consoles modification, so as to explote much better its features in a way not accomplished by the industry (as the speaker, Federico Álvarez, says: "as an justice action").

Jon Cortázar will speak about the big standard platform that this year cellebrate its 25th anniversary: the MSX.

And finally, and of special interest of game enthusiasts and those who think about the cultural point of view, John Tones (chairman of Superjuegos Xtrme magazine, among other things) and Eunice Spillman will present "Mondo Pixel Vol.1". Mondo Pixel is the first spanish blog about videogames, and now it's also a bi-annual collection of books that speak about videogame culture in an nonconformist point of view. Of course, in such book collections, retrogaming is one of its topics.

The film producer and director Ciro Altabás will be with us in RetroEuskal'08 showing his new documentary titled "Hobby", a funny look at the japanish videogame culture, and winner of the prize to the best movie script on Malaga Film Festival - ZonaZine Section.

After the show, Ciro (also known for several other works full of freak-style ambience) will take part in a public talk with everyone interested in.

It has been announced the RetroEuskal Round Table for this year. Following the main topic of RE'08, the round table discussion will be about game consoles evolution, from several points os view.

Following people will be discussing the topic: a game designer, a computers and games press member, and an audiovisual artist who wisdomly uses the games culture within his jobs.

The round table will be held in Spanish, with no translation service for now (sorry about that).

Get ready for the Classic Videogames Tournament

The Classic Videogames Tournament is an annual challenge for you to
show your skills with "videogames of everytime". It's not necessary to
study any manual, nor even to know the actual videogames to be played,
it's just a matter of having fun!

Retrolympics are back again

The Retrolympics are a series of physical events based on the Olympic
games (and on not so Olympic games) using several retrocomputing
components instead of the usual elements that are used in common
sports.
